Brendan Coles says it was the support from his team mates that helped him break the Stratford Cricket Club record and score 216 runs early last month.
Brendan, who scored the highest number of runs by any batsmen in the club at any grade, says that the social grade game against Turuturu began as any other.
"I got into bat and after hitting a few boundaries the guys started to say that I was looking good to make a 100."
Brendan says his team mates weren't wrong. "Before I knew it I was at 100," something Brendan has managed to do before at higher grades.
Brendan says his captain Aaron Moore encouraged him to push for 200 runs, "while things got a bit wobbly around 150 runs I put the pedal down and just kept hitting".
