Stratford TSB Pool was full of students earlier this month as it played host to the Special Olympics New Zealand regional swimming competition.
The students came from schools all around the region - Stratford High School, Inglewood High School, Sacred Heart Memorial College, New Plymouth Boys' High School, New Plymouth Girls' High School, Spotswood College and Waitara High School, plus one from Whanganui.
Andrea Wilkie, manager of the pool complex, said it was wonderful to see so many competitors.
It was a record number of competitors - moree than 70 - as the students demonstrated their confidence and ability in the water.
Julia Sanson, regional sports co-ordinator for Special Olympics, says "it was brilliant to see them all enjoying themselves".
