Brian Darth Funeral Services Stratford A Men took on Sandford's 4 Square Broadway Men on Saturday. With both teams light on numbers, the winner was going to be the team that played the smartest game.
Broadway played the first 20 minutes well going 1-0 up from a penalty corner by Troy Edgecombe. Stratford A were 3-1 up at half time with goals to Paul Williams and two by Chris Ashcroft.
In the second half Stratford A played the better game with another three goals to Chris Ashcroft, Curtis Boyde and Paul Williams. Broadway finished with a late goal by Grant Boyde giving the Stratford A team a 6-2 win. The player of the day for Broadway was Troy Edgecombe and Chris Ashcroft with his hat-trick of goals.
The Le Dejeuner Catering Stratford A Women came up against Sandford's 4 Square Stratford B Women. The B women played a good game working very hard on defence and in attack. The A Women showed more experience with their young stars, Annika Roodbeen and Lara Williams proving their worth. The final score was 16-1 with Kelly-Anne Foskin scoring one goal for the B team. Player of the day, Olivia Cottam.
Le Dejeuner Catering Avon Men played New Plymouth Boys High. Avon started the game with only nine players. Boys High opened the scoring early and proceeded with very good teamwork. Avon gained a 10th player nearing the end of the first half. In the second half Avon was given an 11th player which helped the team make more attacks on the Boys High goal. Final score to Boys High 14-0. Player of the Day for Avon was Caleb Robinson.
