Results from 1st round of the Summer Cup played on the weekend: three-way tie on nett 65, N Aldridge, G Bishop and J Cusdin with Neil Aldridge winning the nett comp on count back. There are three players on 66: T Cawley, G Kite and C Walton at 20. With 13 scores nett 70 or better, it will make the 2nd round on Saturday interesting.
The handicap pennant team started the series on the right note with a win over Manaia at Fitzroy on Sunday. The team were all square after the foursomes, with Shane Ngatai and Tony Watts winning their match and Bob Cave and Craig Kearvell halving theirs. In the singles Kearvell, Watts and Ngatai won and Craig Walton halved his to give the team a 5-4 win.
Stratford Ladies
The competition last Tuesday was called off due to bad weather. Flo Coburn and Jenny Oien played on and Jenny had 2 twos and 69 nett. Next Tuesday is Bring a Birdie. Starters will be Aileen Gribbon and Pam Arthur.
The golf on Saturday saw the Tuesday ladies compete against and beat the Saturday ladies. Best scores were Christine Taylor and Pauline Downs with 41 stableford points and Jennifer Patterson at 40.
Stratford Seniors
A hot day greeted the players contesting the stableford competition.
Best scores for the ladies were Marcella Childs 45, Maria Weyden 43, Ann Barnett and Mary McQuay 37. Twos: Marcella Childs.
The best men's scores were Ray Reitzema and Ernie Pratt 42, Terry Walsh 41, Colin Wheeler 40, Garry Vincent, Neil Bertie 38. Accuracy: Charlie Down. Twos: Bruce Barnett.
The nine holers were Miro Elliott 23, Jack Stevens, Doreen Mackay 20, Gerda Reitzema 19.
