The final for the Crawley Challenge Cup was won by St Joseph's Opunake last Monday against Toko School with a final score of 48-42.
The Crawley Challenge Cup is a rugby tournament for Central and South Taranaki Schools specifically aimed at Year 5 and 6 pupils.
"We have plenty of tournaments for the senior students of our schools; the younger ones were missing out on the fun of inter-school competitions," says Auroa School principal, Heath Chittenden.
The final was played at Kaponga Rugby grounds as, "we thought it would be nice to offer a neutral ground for the final", says Kaponga School principal, Shane Downs.
Next year it is hoped that netball can be added to the competition.
