After claiming his China Tour status last week, Luke Toomey is back in the headlines once again by earning his full PGA Tour Series - China status.
Dont be confused, they are two separate tours with the China Tour creating a pathway to the European Tour, while the PGA Tour of China provides the opportunity to progress onto the Web.com Tour.
Toomey who has consistently been one of New Zealands top amateurs, completed one of the most remarkable turnarounds of the week. Having been eight-over par for the tournament after 11 holes into the second round, his third round of four-under par (68) got him back on track to finish 11th with the top 15 earning status.
"Im pretty relieved and also ecstatic just to be back in form again. Starting off after a win last week, I almost kind of slacked off and maybe fell into the trap of playing with Lucas, one of my good friends," said Toomey.
"Then I realized I was 8-over and had a bit of a chat with myself and got my head back in the game and now here I am."
"Im now in my second year as a pro, and what better way to start than having full status on this Tour and a direct pathway to the PGA TOUR. Its been a dream of mine since I was a kid, and I feel like the wheels are in motion now and Im really excited about the year ahead."
His next goal will be to finish the season inside the top five on the Order of Merit standings where he would then earn his Web.com Tour card.
Toomey will return home to New Zealand and is hoping to get invitations to both the NZPGA Championship and the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open.
