Two weeks after being knocked out of an Olympic gold medal by Michelle Carter, shot putter Valerie Adams has claimed victory over the American at the Diamond League event in Lausanne.

The Rio silver medallist won with a best throw of 19.94 metres, 45 centimetres better than Carter's effort which saw her claim second.

Germany's Christina Schwanitz has finished third with a throw of 19.33m.

Adams victory ensures she continues to lead the Diamond League
