Former Hurricanes and All Blacks legend Conrad Smith is eager to see his former Super Rugby side attempt to win their maiden title this weekend, albiet from a pub on the other side of the world in Europe.

Speaking to Radio Sport, Smith - who captained the Wellington-based side to an unsuccessful home final against the Highlanders last year - admitted he's been struggling to figure out how to watch Super Rugby's showpiece event while overseas, but says he will be watching his former side take on the Lions from a pub in Spain.

"I'll be trying to track down a TV, I'm still working that out as to where I'll be watching it, but it's safe to know that I'll be in front of a TV somewhere watching it," Smith said.

"Of all places, I'm actually going to be across the border in Spain picking up a friend who flies in the night before, so that's why I'm still unsure of where I'll be watching the game, but I will find one.

"I'm sure there's an Irish bar or two that will be screening it."

Currently plying his trade for French Top 14 side Pau, Smith said he has been following the Hurricanes' fortunes this season, and expected a tight match between the two finallists.

"There won't be much in it. It will come down to small moments in the game, and whoever wins or loses will be made a big deal of afterwards, and the reality is there won't be much in it at all."
