Waitakere United have sacked coach Brian Shelley just three weeks into their ASB Premiership campaign.
Shelley, who has been player-coach for the last two seasons, sent a text message to his players this morning saying the club had 'terminated his agreement'.
United Technical Director Paul Smalley has also resigned with immediate effect.
Former Waitakere boss Chris Milicich has been appointed as new coach and will lead the side in their match against Team Wellington on Sunday afternoon.
Milicich led United to the Fifa Club World Cup on two occasions in 2007 and 2008, holds a UEFA 'A' International Coaching Licence and was the New Zealand under 20 coach from 2010-2013.
Waitakere have made a slow start to the 2015/16 campaign, claiming just three points from their opening three games. Last Thursday they were thumped 5-1 by WaiBOP United.
"The change has been made with immediate effect to allow the new coach to assess the squad and implement a certain playing style while there is still time to achieve the goals the club has set for this season," Waitakere CEO Bill MacGowan said.
