According to a tweet this week, Ryan Giggs has made history by becoming the first person to play for Manchester United, manage Manchester United and sleep with his brother's wife. As it happens, said brother, Rhodri, is backing Ryan to succeed.
Moyes haunted by banner
If there was one thing that haunted manager David Moyes during his ill-fated stint at Manchester United (aside from horrendous on-field performances, a lack of respect in the changing room and Alex Ferguson being sat in the stands at every game) it was the infamous "Chosen One" banner. It took pride of place at Old Trafford after Moyes' appointment, alluding to the Scot being hand-picked by Ferguson to succeed him in charge of the now-deposed English champions. Now Moyes has been shown the door, the banner has been put up for sale on auction site eBay, with bids exceeding $300,000 at last check.
Should have gone to Specsavers
AFL star Lance "Buddy" Franklin says he is truly sorry for crashing into five parked cars and has denied he was texting or speeding. The Sydney Swans' $10 million recruit said he didn't see cars on the left-hand side of the road as he was heading west along a road in the suburb of Rose Bay in his girlfriend's Jeep 4WD on Wednesday evening.
"It was just an accident and accidents do happen and that's pretty much it," he said at training yesterday morning. Police breath-tested Franklin and he was found to be under the limit. He also put his girlfriend in an awkward position - Jesinta Campbell is brand ambassador for Jeep.
Whopper Gignac with French fries
Marseille's Andre-Pierre Gignac is set to sue Burger King after the fast-food chain poked fun at the stocky soccer striker in a newspaper ad. Gignac has often been the subject of crowd chants in relation to his weight struggles and Burger King recently joined in with a "Whopper for Gignac" campaign. Reports in France say Gignac will sue the fast food giant for damages after being teased by his teammates, who put up posters of the ad throughout the team's changing room.

The four-time NBA champion has joined the networking website and lists his occupation as "Owner, a lot of companies". If that wasn't enough to attract perspective employers, Shaq also describes his most valuable attributes: "My best asset is that I am proven to lead teams to championships. I mean multiple championships."
Text takes aim at ref
In the process of losing the second game of their first round NBA playoff series against the Washington Wizards, one Chicago Bulls fan decided he needed to do something. He was watching the game at Chicago's United Centre and, with the stadium having given fans a hotline to contact security, the fan texted his concerns about unpopular referee Joey Crawford: "Joey Crawford is ruining this game plz throw him out thank you."
The security team responded: "We have our eye on him. Thank you for your concern."
