Parramatta have moved swiftly to secure Manu Mau for two years following his barnstorming NRL debut against the Warriors.
The 25-year-old back-rower was named man of the match and he has now signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2015 season.
It caps a remarkable change of fortunes for the New Zealander who spent three years in prison in Auckland for his part in a vicious gangland brawl in 2007.
Mau said his teammates played a huge role in his decision to stay and he wanted to thank them for their support in helping him turn his life around.
"I feel good - it's good to have my future secured here; the club had faith in me, and I want to give back to them," Mau said. "The boys made it easy for me, and made me feel welcome. I love them."
