There's some consolation for Warriors utility Feleti Mateo after a disappointing NRL season.

Mateo's been included in a 20-strong Australian train-on squad to begin preparations for the one off test against New Zealand.

Players whose club teams have made it to the NRL finals will be included when their seasons end.

Squad: Gold Coast - Greg Bird, Jamal Idris, Nate Myles, William Zillman; Newcastle - Darius Boyd, Akuila Uate; Penrith - Lachlan Coote, Tim Grant, Michael Jennings, Luke Lewis; St George Illawarra - Ben Creagh, Brett Morris, Trent Merrin, Beau Scott; Sydney Roosters - Jake Friend, Mitchell Pearce; Warriors - Feleti Mateo; Wests Tigers - Robbie Farah, Chris Lawrence, Aaron Woods.
