Kiwi poker player Paul Hockin has won the Main Event of the 2012 New Zealand Poker Championships in Christchurch this morning, earning $35,000.
After 25 hours of play over two days, Hockin defeated comedian Mike King heads up for the win at 1am - with second place taking home $24,000.
Hockin outlasted a field of 92 players that all bought in for $1650, generating a prize pool of $151,800.
The Main Event was the flagship event of the nine-day Christchurch series, which featured eight tournaments and attracted players from all over the world.
