Two professional golfers on a night out in Queenstown following the conclusion of the inaugural NZ PGA Pro-Am golf tournament at The Hills were arrested by police early yesterday.
Sergeant Derek Ealson said a 20-year-old and 26-year-old were arrested "for their behaviour".
Senior Sergeant John Fookes told the Otago Daily Times there were two separate incidents involving the golfers at the same time.
In the first, a 26-year-old New Zealand professional golfer was arrested at 4am and charged with intentional damage.
"The allegation is that [the] male was dropped off at a Fernhill address ... and threw a rock at the taxi door."
Diversion may be an option, Snr Sgt Fookes said.
In the second incident, also at 4am, a 20-year-old Auckland professional golfer was arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour in Beach St.
An associate, a 26-year-old landscape gardener, also of Auckland, was arrested and charged with obstructing a police officer.
Both men were released on a pre-charge warning, Snr Sgt Fookes said.
