Veteran Gold Coast playmaker Preston Campbell has had a change of heart and announced he will retire at the end of the 2011 NRL season.
Campbell initially reversed his decision to hang up the boots at the end of the year, saying he wanted to help the likely 2011 wooden spooners rebuild next year.
However, Campbell has again changed his mind, telling his Titans teammates on Friday morning that he will bow out in 2011 - his 14th year in the NRL.
"I feel like it's time for me to start the next phase of my life off the field,'' Campbell said.
He said he wanted to stay on at the Titans in an off-field role next season and also work with indigenous youth.
