Megan Wakefield blasted a century to guide Wellington to a 92-run win over Auckland at Melville Park yesterday.
Wakefield's 120, before she became one of Natalee Scripps' three victims, was the 26-year-old's first century since making her State League debut in 2001/02 for Wellington.
Her score, off 119
balls, contained 13 boundaries and helped Wellington to a total of 210 for seven after their allotted 50 overs. In reply, Auckland mustered 118 for nine in 37 overs. Their last batsman Sam Bariball was unable to bat after splitting a finger while taking a catch to dismiss Melinda Hodgson.
Sophie Devine, who scored 32 runs in Wellington's innings, picked up three wickets for 30 runs, and Lucy Doolan also snared three wickets for just 22 runs.
With the win, Wellington are unbeaten after four rounds and top the table with a maximum of 16 points.
Another century was scored in the match between Central Districts and Northern Districts at Mt Maunganui.
Nicola Browne, who fell short of a maiden century by two runs in Saturday's round three match between the two sides, made no mistakes yesterday.
Her quickfire 101, containing nine boundaries, came off just 94 balls as Northern Districts chased Central Districts' total of 265 for seven.
But once Browne was run out in the 48th over at 227 for seven, Northern's innings ground to a halt, ending at 247-9.
Central's total was built around a 55 from Sarah McGlashan, and supporting contributions of 42 from Aimee Mason, 47 from Kate Broadmore and 49 not out from Rachel Priest.
At Rangiora, Canterbury beat Otago by six wickets in a match shortened to 34 overs a side after rain delayed its start.
Saturday's third round match between the sides was abandoned because of heavy rain.
An unbeaten 36 from Amy Satterthwaite anchored Canterbury's innings after Otago were dismissed for 95 in 33.1 overs.
