1. Aaron Smith keeps getting better
On a disjointed, frustrating night for the All Blacks, Aaron Smith once again showed his class. Smith is the quiet achiever of the side. His passing last night was as crisp and accurate as his decision-making. Perhaps the reason Smith flies under the radar is that he generally does everything right. He is the master of the one-movement pass from the deck -- perhaps the best there has been at it since Graeme Bachop. And just as importantly, he rarely gets flustered, even when his forwards deliver him sub-par service as they did last night. His quick-tap try highlighted just how sharp his instincts are, and was instrumental in leading to the All Blacks' comeback.
2. Ewen McKenzie's future is in doubt
The Wallabies coach was under siege in the leadup to the game. The Kurtley Beale incident dominated the headlines, there was talk of divisions within the squad and it was even said Waratahs coach Michael Cheika had been sounded out for the job. McKenzie desperately needed a result to keep the wolves from his door. His players almost obliged, but not quite. The questions will continue.
