Other activities will include building a flying helicopter, colouring sheets, and spot prizes for those whocome in fancy dress and take part in the activity trail which runs throughout the exhibition.
Museum event co-ordinator Kathy Nicholls said it was a great opportunity to have a look at the interactive Da Vinci exhibition and was something different to do during the holidays.
"The kids will see these old inventions and how they have evolved to what they see today."
Mrs Nicholls encouraged people to visit all three of the Da Vinci Kids Fun Days as they were quite different and the children would learn something different each time.
The second day, Da Vinci Does Art is on Wednesday, January 18 and will allow children to explore a range of Da Vinci's most famous art works before creating their own collage portrait.
A local artist will also be painting a portrait live in the exhibition.
The third day, Da Vinci Does Code, is on Wednesday, January 25.
Children of all ages will be able to copy some of Da Vinci's ideas on code and secrecy using invisible ink, mirror codes, symbol codes, cryptex and spiral decoders.
The Da Vinci Machines and Robots exhibition is on until March 26 at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre.
