A tramper has been rescued from the Eastern Okataina walkway after suffering suspected heat exhaustion.
About 7.45pm last night Rotorua police were advised of an ill tramper on the walkway.
The woman, aged in her late 40s, was part of a group travelling from the Lake Tarawera outlet to the Okataina Rd end when she became very ill, with suspected heat exhaustion.
Members of her group managed to get cellphone coverage and alerted emergency services.
Police Search & Rescue personnel and LandSAR volunteers were deployed into the area, with a team of mountain bikers locating the party at about 11pm near Oruaroa Point, on the southern part of the walkway.
