A hunter had to be airlifted from Lake Tarawera to Rotorua Hospital after falling ill.
The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched shortly after midday because the 67-year-old needed immediate medical help.
One of the his hunting companions had raised the alarm.
An advanced paramedic was winched down to the hunters' location, with equipment and stabilised the man.
He was then able to make his way to a waiting boat and was transported a short distance to where the helicopter was able to land.
