The Ngongotaha Farmers Market is set to become a regular monthly event after a successful day yesterday welcomed in the first weekend of spring for stall holders.
Progressive Ngongotaha co-ordinator Lyn Benfell said the funds from the market would be used to help further market days.
She said monthly markets at Ngongotaha on the first Sunday of each month would fit well with other markets held in the city.
Around 13 stallholders, who were selling plants, eggs, and ethnic food and providing train rides, and set up near the Ngongotaha Railway Park in the village were keen to return, she said.
"This has been one of our best ever market days and we are encouraged to keep it going each month," she said.
