The Prime Minister of Singapore will arrive in New Zealand this evening for a three-day visit.

Lee Hsien Loong will be making his second trip to the country since becoming Singapore's leader in 2004.

Prime Minister John Key said New Zealand's relationship with Singapore was "a deep and enduring one", and this visit underscores those close ties.

Mr Key said the two countries share a long history of education and defence cooperation, alongside the Closer Economic Partnership which has helped boost trade between the two nations.

Mr Key said they'll hold further constructive discussions, and continue to strengthen cooperation in a range of areas, including science and innovation.

Mr Lee will meet Singaporean community and business leaders in Auckland tonight, before travelling on to Wellington.
