The latest New Zealand Morgan poll has registered the biggest drop for National since the election with a slump of five points to 51.5 per cent, and a gain by Labour of four points to 33 per cent.
The Green Party is on 7.5 per cent (down 0.5), the Act Party on 2 per cent (up 0.2), the Maori Party on 2.5 per cent (up 1), Progressives on 0.5 per cent (unchanged) and New Zealand First, while not in Parliament, registered 2.5 per cent (up 1). United Future, which has one MP, polled below 0.5 per cent.
Total support for parties in the National-led Government is still high at 56 per cent, down four points, and support for the Opposition parties is 44 per cent, up four points.
Despite the fall in support for National, the number of people saying the Government is heading in the right direction is 67.5 per cent, up two points. Those who say it is heading in the wrong direction number 24.5 per cent, up 2.5 points.
The poll of 845 voters was conducted between August 31 and September 13.
