Standing for: Manukau City, Otara Ward and Counties Manukau DHB (People's Choice).
Well-known for: Being a two-term National MP.
Why should people vote for you?
I have a track record of never giving up in what I believe in, and working at no cost for community needs. I have already walked away from a political party which I spent a considerable amount of time and money on because at the end of the day I was convinced they did not represent the needs of my people.
What's the biggest issue facing your area?
I want to make New Zealand to look at Otara with respect and pride and not as if it was some type of ghetto. I believe with the right leadership Otara can be equal to any place in New Zealand. I want to work towards eliminating casinos that suck out the revenue from Otara, which then goes to more wealthy areas that don't patronise them.
What's your solution to health issues?
The Government can reduce waiting lists by introducing tax deductible health insurance that would allow the working community to access private hospitals rather than take up public hospital beds.
