A 25-year-old prostitute drove around Auckland with the body of the car's owner crammed in the tiny boot.
In the High Court at Auckland yesterday Toni Maree Henare, of Orewa, admitted being involved in the murder of 32-year-old Nicholas Odysseus Devliotis on April 5.
She was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice Hugh Williams.
A 23-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl, who was 14 at the time, face trial for murder next month.
According to the police, Henare met Mr Devliotis last October while she was working as a prostitute.
They lived together for about a month.
After her arrest, Henare told police that there was an agreement that Mr Devliotis would give her his sportscar in return for sexual favours for him and his friends.
Without Mr Devliotis' knowledge, the ownership was fraudulently changed into Henare's name in January, but Mr Devliotis had it changed back.
There was no contact between them until April, when Mr Devliotis went to Orewa, where he met Henare and the others.
It is alleged that while taking drugs and sniffing solvents, Henare and the other two decided to take the sportscar.
The police say that while "wasted" on solvents, Mr Devliotis was attacked on Orewa Beach. Tape was wrapped around his mouth and face, and his head was jumped on and kicked.
Bound and gagged, Mr Devliotis was forced into the small boot of his car.
After dropping the 14-year-old off in central Auckland, Henare drove the sportscar to Lynfield Mall carpark to meet an associate.
Police found Henare and the vehicle about 11pm with Mr Devliotis' body still in the boot.
Henare made a full confession to police.
