Body found in water near Waihi Beach

A person's body has been found in the water near Waihi Beach this afternoon.

Police were alerted at around 2.20pm after a body was discovered in the water near the rocks at Homunga Bay, about 6km north of Waihi Beach.

Enquiries were underway to identify the person and notify their next of kin, a police spokesperson said.
