A cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash with a car in the Auckland suburb of Meadowbank this afternoon.
Police are at the scene of the crash which happened just after 4pm near the intersection of Gowing Drive and Cruikshank Cres.
A man at the scene said one witness told him the cyclist was hit by a woman in a white Range Rover who fled the scene without stopping to check on the victim. About eight police cars are at the scene, he said.
The cyclist has been taken to hospital.
Cordons are in place at the intersections of St Johns Road, Dorchester St and Archdall St in Meadowbank.
