Mr Larsen said the Middleton name did not register at first but the Gibbons soon realised that they were being asked to provide landscaping for the wedding of the Duchess of Cambridge's sister, Pippa Middleton.
After Ms Middleton married James Matthews at St Mark's Church in Englefield, on May 20, the wedding reception was held at the Middleton's home in nearby Bucklebury.
It is probably safe to assume that the Middletons were pleased with the appearance of their grounds on their daughter's big day.
Mr Larsen says he is proud of his own daughter who met her future husband while visiting the UK around 13 years ago.
"Graham is a genuine pommie so Ruth is an English citizen now and they have two sons who are almost teenagers," he says.
"They are renovating their 450-year-old cottage in the village of Inkpen in West Berkshire.
"The roof thatching has been replaced and the cottage will be connected to the sewage system for the first time in its life.
Mr Larsen says he will be in Inkpen next month for his annual visit.
"It's a lovely village and I always enjoy my time there," he says.
The proud dad said some people may remember when Ruth and her brother Leith performed regular magic shows at the Palm Lounge in Whanganui.
"Ruth was the one who had to be decapitated or cut in half," he says.
Both Larsen children attended Wanganui Collegiate and Leith now lives in Auckland.
