A person was arrested after their erratic driving sparked a 45 minute police hunt.

The car was seen driving dangerously around Warkworth at 12.20 this morning. A police chase was started and then abandoned due to safety, a police spokeswoman said.

"They were driving really erratically, speeding, lights off on the motorway.

"Pretty dangerous stuff."

The same car was then seen in Silverdale and tracked from there using cameras and the police Eagle Helicopter. The car was stopped after being spiked and the occupant was arrested.

No formal charges have been laid at this stage.
