Police are searching for a group of five men who assaulted three people in Napier early Sunday morning.
The three friends were walking near the Atherfold Crescent and Curie Street intersection around 1am when they were approached by a group of at least five men, described as Maori and aged between 17 and 25 years old.
The group demanded personal items from the friends before assaulting two of them and taking a cellphone and watch.
The victims received facial injuries and one is thought to have been knocked unconscious for a short time.
