Police have arrested all five people who were involved in a firearm incident in Northland earlier today.

Northland Police cordoned off an area of Kaikohe when they searched for a man who fled from a car in which a firearm was allegedly pointed at another vehicle in Broadwood, north of Kaikohe, around 12.30pm.

The car sped off and was later found abandoned on Te Pua Rd. Three men fled from the car into nearby farmland.

Ammunition has also been recovered.

Three of the five occupants will face charges in relation to the incident.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this matter and police cordons at the State Highway One intersection of Te Pua Rd, and at the end of that road on State Highway 12 near Kaikohe, have been stood down.

This incident is not related to the separate searches for Joshua Kite or Mark Fletcher.
