A dog loose on the Northwestern Motorway kept police busy this morning.
Members of the public alerted police to the dog, believed to be a german shepherd, on the motorway between Te Atatu and Lincoln roads around 9.15am.
A police spokeswoman said the dog ran off the motorway and into a nearby estuary.
She said the dog was uninjured and there were no major delays or disruption to traffic.
