A tramping hut has been flown to safer ground by an Air Force helicopter.
The Mt Fell hut had been sitting on an active slip in Mt Richmond Forest Park in Marlborough.
Department of Conservation, which manages the hut, said it had to be moved because it was sitting on an active slip and was in danger of sliding into the mountain bush. The hut had been closed since March 2015.
A Royal New Zealand Air Force NH90 medium utility helicopter airlifted the 1700kg hut about 300 metres to its new location on Thursday.
Two loads of concrete and other construction materials which weighed a total of 1800kg and piles of timber were also transported to be used for the hut's new foundations.
The hut will remain closed until Christmas.
