A third person has been arrested in relation to an alleged serious assault of a female found on the side of a road in Dome Valley last week.

The woman was found bound and gagged on the roadside last Monday.

Police said a 42-year-old woman was arrested today and will appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow.

She is the third person to be arrested in relation to the incident.

A 28-year-old woman appeared in the North Shore District Court yesterday facing three charges - two counts of kidnapping and one charge of threatening to kill.

She was granted interim name suppression and was remanded in custody until Tuesday when she will reappear alongside her alleged co-offender, a 38-year-old Auckland man.

He also has name suppression.

Police are not ruling out the possibility of further arrests as the inquiry continues.

The victim remains in Auckland Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A police spokeswoman said no further comment would be made as the matter was before the courts.
