A water outage in Reporoa has closed at least two schools in the area today.
Reporoa School and Reporoa College are sending students home after discovering there was no water to the schools.
Reporoa School said buses were taking students home and the school was ringing all parents.
The college said the school would be closed for the day.
The school was trying to contact parents and said those who travelled to school by bus would be going home on the bus.
A spokeswoman said the school was looking at ways to cater for students who couldn't go home.
Broadlands School principal Grahame Taylor said the water supply to his school had also been cut.
"We are running out of water as well, so will be needing to take some action. I have no idea what's happened with it."
He said the school would not closed until he had further information from the council.
"I don't want to send kids home when it could end up being fixed in 10 minutes," he said.
