A forestry worker has been airlifted to hospital after falling down a steep bank and dislocating his shoulder.

The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter came to the man's aid at an isolated site near Te Haroto, on the Napier-Taupo highway, according to their rescue mission log.

The man was flown to Taupo Hospital following the incident at noon today.
