A man has been seriously injured in a fire at a Wellington mini-golf course.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at Carlucci Land in Happy Valley about 5pm.

A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said a man was transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

She did not know whether he had suffered from burns or smoke inhalation.

A Fire Service spokeswoman said they received multiple calls from the public from about 4.45pm.

The fire started in an area of pine trees, she said, but had since been contained.

Two helicopters and rural firefighters were still at the scene.

The injured man was a civilian, not a firefighter, the spokeswoman said.
