The 32-year-old Christchurch woman who died when she was swept down a river during a mountain run was Isabel Frances Rivett.
Mrs Rivett was in a party of five who were 3km up Deception Valley near Otira towards Goat Pass.
They were making their third crossing of the Deception River when she became detached from her group and was swept downstream.
Her running mates found her about 1km downstream and tried to resuscitate her.
Sadly, she could not be revived.
According to her Facebook page Mrs Rivett worked at the Canterbury District Health Board.
She was an avid runner. According to a running website she had set personal records on a number of hill runs around Christchurch in the days before her death.
