A man has died in hospital following a domestic dispute at a Waikato home yesterday afternoon.
Police said emergency services were called to a home on Tattersfield Pl in Dinsdale about 4pm yesterday in relation to what is believed to have been a domestic dispute.
Detective Senior Sergeant Daryl Smith said when police arrived a 23-year-old man was found lying seriously injured in the driveway.
"Neighbours and local residents have provided first aid to the man before ambulance officers arrived and he was taken to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
"Unfortunately the victim died while undergoing surgery and at present his death is being treated as an unexplained death," Mr Smith said.
Mr Smith said a scene guard was kept in place overnight and a scene examination was carried out this morning.
"This examination is still underway and is being carried out by our staff, alongside Environmental Science and Research forensic experts from Auckland.
"While this is taking place other members of the inquiry team are conducting an area canvas speaking to local residents as we work to piece together what has occurred."
Mr Smith asked anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
