Rates in some Auckland areas will rise by up to 9.6 per cent next year under a rating policy released by Mayor Len Brown today.
Council figures show 116,000 households are now expected to face a rates increase of more than 10 per cent.
New property valuations and other factors see varying household rates rise and fall across the city.
In Albert-Eden, household rates would rise by an average of 9.61 per cent. On Great Barrier Island household rates fall by 21.85 per cent.

The overall rates rise is 2.5 per cent.
The policy was released at a governing body meeting at Orakei Marae and will be debated in full at a budget meeting next week.
