A farm manager who died after he was critically injured when his ute crashed down a steep bank near Lake Waikaremoana at the weekend has been formally named.
Neil Maurice Christie, 53, of Ohuka near Wairoa, died in Waikato Hospital last night from injuries sustained in Saturday night's crash, police
said.
It is understood members of Mr Christie's family were at his bedside.
Mr Christie suffered extensive injuries in the crash when his ute left State Highway 38 at a spot 22km west of Frasertown, inland from Wairoa, on Saturday night.
The vehicle crashed into trees and rolled several times before coming to rest more than 30 metres down the bank.
