Police said the motorcycle and a vehicle collided on Roscommon Rd about 6.45am.

The car, reported by witnesses to be a dark green late 1990s model Ford Explorer, left the scene of the crash without stopping.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old-man, was taken to hospital with facial and chest injuries.

Witnesses had told police the Ford Explorer turned into the path of the motorcycle, into Robert Ross Place, near McDonald's.

Police had asked for help tracking down the driver of the Ford Explorer.

However, the driver reported to the Clendon community police station this morning

Police said he was helping with their inquiries.
