The family of slain dairy-owner Arun Kumar have described him as "a perfect husband, a perfect dad and a perfect son" in a statement released today.
They said Tuesday, the day Mr Kumar was killed, was "the hardest day of their lives."
The family had been running the Railside Dairy in Henderson, where Mr Kumar was killed, for five years.
Mr Kumar loved his job and talking and laughing with his customers.
"Dad loved his shop, he was very social and always talking to everybody," the statement said.
"It was less of a job and more of a hobby because he loved talking to people so much."
"He was always chatting to the customers and laughing with them.
"He had a very good sense of humour.
"He was a very giving man and there are many examples that people are telling us, about how generous and kind he was."
The family wanted to thank people who had reached to them after Mr Kumar's death.
"Thank you to everybody who has included us in their thoughts and prayers, it really means a lot.
"There are so many people's lives that he had touched that we didn't know about and are only finding out about now and that is giving us a lot of comfort.
"We are getting calls from across the country and overseas and we thank everyone very much for your support."
The family said their lives had come to a standstill and they were taking things one day at a time.
The weeks and months to come are "unimaginable" to the family, the statement said.
A funeral for Mr Kumar would be held on Saturday at 2pm.
Members of the public are welcome at a public viewing at Haven Falls Funeral Home in Henderson tomorrow from 6pm until 9pm
