The body of a man has been found in Nelson overnight.
The man was discovered on Whakatu Drive around 12.10am.
The man was found close to the Nayland Rd overbridge, a police spokeswoman said.
At this stage in the investigation it was not thought a criminal investigation would be launched into his death, she said.
He was described as aged between 18 and 30, Caucasian, of slim build and 172cm tall.
He had short brown hair with a ginger tinge, a silver stud ear ring in his left ear and was wearing a red chequered light weight shirt and black Adidas track pants with white stripes down each leg, police said.
The man did not have any tattoos, and was not wearing any footwear or socks when he was found.
