Prime Minister John Key proved to be a fun relief teacher this morning at Parakai School.
Mr Key spoke to up to 170 students at the primary school, north of Auckland, before heading into the classroom for a spot of reading.
The class, made up of five and six-year-olds, laughed as Mr Key read a book about cats and talked about the cat he had as a boy - which attacked him every time he got out of bed, he said.
Mr Key was there to present the school with its share of a $700,000 prize pool of sporting and art gear from the Cool Our Schools programme; an initiative run by Meadow Fresh.
As part of the programme, thousands of students nationwide were surveyed earlier this year on what they believe is cool.
