September's storm did more than $60 million of damage in two days, the Insurance Council of New Zealand reported.
The provisional cost of insured damaged caused by the storm that hit the country on September 11 and 12 was $68m, ICNZ Chief Executive Tim Grafton said.
About 7000 claims worth more than $15m were settled for home and contents damage, while over $38m in commercial material damage claims and almost $10m in motor vehicle claims were settled, he said.
There was also $2.5m in damage to crops and over $1m paid out for business interruption, Mr Grafton said.
"These are provisional figures at this stage, but they confirm that the cost of storms in 2013 has now reached $157 million so far.''
