A convicted forger has been denied parole because police are investigating whether he forged an employment offer.
Wayne Thomas Patterson is serving a sentence of eight years and six months for fraudulent offending, including forging documents.
The Parole Board decision released today said Patterson's last hearing in June was adjourned because of concerns an offer of employment from the Carterton District Council was a forgery.
At a hearing on September 12, Patterson confirmed through his counsel that he was aware of a police inquiry into the matter, and that he had declined a police interview.
The board said given the circumstances it was clear that Patterson continued to present an undue risk to the safety of the community, and parole was declined.
