Police have charged a woman with attempted murder after a 3-week-old baby was critically injured in Invercargill last week.
The 32-year-old woman was arrested today and appeared in Invercargill District Court.
She was remanded in custody for a psychiatric report and granted interim name suppression.
The baby was rushed to hospital after being injured at her Invercargill home early on Monday last week.
She is recovering at Auckland's Starship Hospital.
Police have said the baby's parents were at home at the time of the incident about 5.30am.
Several neighbours reported hearing noises from the property early on Monday before emergency services were called to the Princes St home.
