Mum back in court over newborn's death

A young woman accused of causing the death of her newborn baby in Lower Hutt is back before the courts today.

The 22-year-old woman was charged after the baby was found in a Taita backyard last September.

A hearing is underway today in the High Court in Wellington to assess whether the woman is fit to plead.

Heavy suppression surrounds the case and no other details are able to be made public.
