Two men will appear in court today after another man was beaten with iron bars in a home invasion in Upper Hutt yesterday.

The 27-year-old suffered a suspected broken arm and bruising when he was attacked at his home in Clouston Park Road about 4.30pm yesterday.

He was in a stable condition in Hutt Hospital.

Police said two men entered the victim's house and beat him with iron bars.

The offenders left in a car but were stopped shortly afterwards by a nearby police patrol.

Two men, aged 24 and 30, will appear in Lower Hutt District Court today charged with assault with intent to injure.

Police said yesterday that more serious charges could be laid after they had finished speaking to witnesses.
